Top 10 Amazon Buys of 2020
Since the majority of my last year experience was spent in my house, I made quite a few purchases from Amazon. As I’m sure we all did. So I thought I would share some of my favorite items that I got. Maybe you’ve been looking for some of these and didn’t realize, or maybe I can at least give you my reviews.
#1: Sunrise Alarm Clock

Back at the beginning of 2020 I was still regularly attending my job downtown and had to get up at a set time every morning so that I had enough time to get ready and get out the door. I was having a bit of a rough time getting up even with five alarms set on my phone. So I got this sunrise alarm clock. It took a bit to set up, but once I did, I went to bed and woke up to light tunes and the light of a small sun in my room. And I mean that in the best way. It really did help me wake up. I haven’t used it in a while as an alarm clock, but it is still great as a clock as well.

This wouldn’t be a good Amazon list if I didn't have a piece of clothing on it. The Champion mesh shorts were my favorite item that I got last year. I wore them just about every day during summer. I got them in black, size medium. They are high waisted and just the right amount of lightweight. I loved throwing them on over my swimsuit and heading to the pool or beach. I’m looking forward to the weather getting warmer again so I can wear them again this year. I highly recommend these as a casual pair of shorts to wear all the time.
#3 Magnetic Fridge Shelf Organizer

One day at work I was walking back to our printing area and noticed this fine piece of item. A magnetic fridge shelf organizer. I knew it was just what I needed for my coffee supplies at home that were taking up too much counter space. So I immediately bought it for myself. The only setup it required was attaching the wooden rods for the paper towel holders. It fit amazingly on the side of my fridge and opened up more room on my counter. I got the black version, and it is super sleek and works so well.

Next on my list was this pack of two retro sunglasses. The first thing that caught my eye about these was the look of the slim gold rim on the black. And second I noticed the price: $18 for two! You really can’t go wrong with that. They came individually wrapped in a nice cloth bag. They are so cute and comfortable to wear. I loved that I could get two pairs, one rounded and one square shaped. So depending on what mood you’re in, you can pick. Or give one to a friend. They’re also polarizing so they will really keep your eyes protected in the sun.
#5 Seatbelt Cover Pads

If you think you don’t need these, you might want to think again. Being of shorter stature that I am, I have always found myself touching my seatbelt and readjusting so that it wouldn’t cut into my neck. Until I got these seatbelt cover pads. They velcro wrap around the seatbelt and can slide up and down for whoever is sitting in the chair. The material is velvety soft and has just the right amount of padding. The only thing about them that would take off a half star is when the seatbelt is retracting, the cover doesn’t move very well. So I slide the cover all the way down as I’m getting out so the seatbelt can fully retract. It’s a very minor inconvenience in my opinion. Considering you do in fact get two, one for each of the front seats in your car.

If you’ve been looking for a new purse, then look no further. I can’t tell you how many of my friends asked me where I got this crossbody purse from. When I told them Amazon, they immediately wanted the link. I bought this in a light grey/darker grey color combination. But there are almost an infinite number of different colors for this purse. The sizing of it is perfect. Again, being as short as I am, having too large a purse doesn’t work for me. This one looks small enough on the outside, but holds a surprising amount of things. I do in fact still lose my keys in it. But that wouldn’t stop me from buying this in another color. So get one for yourself and share it with your friends when they inevitably ask you where you got it.
#7 Gorilla Grip Silicone Oven Mitts

One evening as I was cooking my favorite chicken recipe in the oven, I had an unfortunate experience. I had simple cloth oven mitts and grabbed my pan out of the oven but immediately threw it down as fast as I could. I burned my finger through the oven mitt. Because of a small little grease spot, the heat had gone straight through to my hand. I threw those cloth mitts away as fast as I could. And I bought these. They boasted of a waterproof and heat resistant exterior with a cloth layer on the inside. I have not had to worry about grabbing a hot pan since I bought them. I will probably buy a pair for all my friends and family as well to keep their hands safe.

Have you been thinking about starting a bullet journal but don’t want to spend $30 on the Leuchtturm notebook that everyone has? This is the notebook for you. At only $10, the cover is quality thickness and the pages hold up really well. I added some cute stickers to add some flair. It is a grid style instead of lined and which makes it ideal for the bullet journal. I can’t recommend this notebook enough. I use it for my to-do lists for work and taking notes as needed.

Since I had recently bought fancy automatic pet feeders for my cats, I was almost ready to be able to leave them for a few days at a time. But I was worried that something would happen and I wouldn’t be able to see and check on them since I wasn’t there. So I found this Victure pet camera. I set it up on my counter out of the way of things. It’s compact and good quality. To set it up, you just plug it in, download the Victure app and it walks you through the steps to get it running. It connects through the internet and you can access the camera at any time with the app. It had 360 degree viewing and you can swivel it around on the app, but once it’s set, it won’t automatically turn if it notices something. You can turn on motion and sound sensing and it will alert you during the time frame that you set. So when I’m gone I turn it on for all day sensing, and I can hop on the app at any point to see what my cats are up to. Not just that, it would alert me if anyone else was trying to get in my house. If you have pets, then I would recommend this camera for you to keep an eye on things.

The final thing on my list is for my newly purchased Apple Watch. After selling my Fitbit devices, I was waiting for Black Friday sales so I could buy the Apple Watch SE. Once I got my hands on it, I knew I wanted to buy a band that would enhance the look of it. For only $18, I added this band to my Apple Watch for all the times I wanted to give it a classic watch look. It matches well with my silver jewelry and was worth the price. It comes made for a bigger wrist, but following the instructions, you can detach some of the links to fit it to your wrist.
